This watch was made for the 1872 Eidgenossisches Schutzenfest in Zurich.
This festival was very large and somewhat glamorous. The site covered over 20 acres of land.
The event was held over ten days in October of that year.
Although it is assumed that not many of these watches exist, shooting talers from that year are somewhat common, and quite popular as collector items. Many shooting medals were minted for this event as well.
